Thumbs Up!

Just by looking at me, would you be able to tell that of all the movie genres there is I am immensely and passionately in love with epics/historical or fantasy? Those movies which involves swords, armors and yes, a lot of killings. This is ironic since I have an unexplainable fear of blood.  I don't know, there's just something in those stories that give me goosebumps. These tales of bravery, brotherhood and heroism. Romance, secrets and intrigues. Strategy, wits and distrusts. These are the kinds that give me chills and hold me wanting for more. Hence my eternal affection and salute to Lord of The Rings Trilogy and Troy. Yep, my all-time favorite movies.

So imagine my reaction the first time I saw the making of one of HBO's newest series. I have seen commercials of Camelot and Tudors before (which are both under the same genre) but I never really felt excited as I was with this new one. If you have been following me at twitter you might have been pissed off with my frequent raves regarding this new series. OMG. Pardon for I was astounded. Friends, I bring you: GAME OF THRONES!

Game of Thrones is an HBO series based on the first of best selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin.

"Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. The cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes to the north of Winterfell, sinister and supernatural forces are massing beyond the kingdom’s protective Wall. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the land they were born to. Sweeping from a land of brutal cold to a distant summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, here is a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens.

Here an enigmatic band of warriors bear swords of no human metal; a tribe of fierce wildlings carry men off into madness; a cruel young dragon prince barters his sister to win back his throne; and a determined woman undertakes the most treacherous of journeys. Amid plots and counterplots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, the fate of the Starks, their allies, and their enemies hangs perilously in the balance, as each endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones."

Interesting? Catch it on HBO but I'm afraid I can't share you when for I do not know the exact dates. It premiered last August 28. I downloaded it so I am finished watching the whole 10 episodes. It saddens me much though that the second season does not begin until April next year. Such a torture. What are the books for anyway? I'm sure to bury myself in the next coming days to a good read, yaaaay!

And oh, by the way this series isn't for children nor for the faint-hearted. There are a lot of killings (READ: blood and gruesome scenes), nudity and what comes after (you know!). So don't tell me I didn't warn you. Other than that, you'll be most likely to be hooked like me.
